Delhi and Bangalore make up two most important cities of our country, India. Each city has its geography and culture. And with this comes the charm of the city. Delhi is the most popular city in the Northern India, whereas Bangalore is everybody’s favourite in Southern India. Each city caters to certain kind of things and have different expectations. You might find Humayun’s Tomb in the capital, whereas Tipu Sultan Palace in Bangalore. But there are certain things in which any city cannot beat Dilli. Be it Bangalore, Mumbai or Pune, Delhi has its own charisma. After all, Delhi cannot be a capital city for no reason! The Delhi Metro has been instrumental in ushering in a new era in the sphere of urban transportation in India. The revolutionary Metro system introduced comfortable and air cooled services for the first time in India and changed the transportation scenario not only in the Capital but in the entire nation. Paranthe Wali Gali in Old Dilli is a popular locality in the world. Out of twenty parantha shops during late 1960s, three remain: Pt Kanhaiyalal Durgaprasad Dixit, Pt Dayanand Shivcharan and Pt Baburam Devidayal Paranthewale. By the beginning of 1911, this locality got the name ‘Paranthewali Gali’. The Paranthas served here are only vegetarian. At Paranthe Wali Gali you could get Paranthas stuffed with stuffings like Chilies, Lemons, Kajus, Matar, Khoya, Rabri, Lady fingers, Radishes, Carrots, Paneer, Aaloo, Badam etc. You can also try your taste at the most unusual filling like Papad Parantha, Banana Parantha, Rabdi Parantha, and Khurchan Parantha. These shops serve Paranthas with sweet lassi, sweet chutney, mint’s chutney, mixed vegetable pickle, paneer and potato curry, and a sauteed mash of sweet pumpkin. Yummmm.

The qawwali sessions on Thursday attracts people from all spheres of life, ready to drool up in the magic of the soul-stirring music. The dargah settles majestically in the Nizamuddin area of Delhi, amidst narrow lanes and rows of hawkers selling small souvenirs. The dargah has been shot in many Bollywood films such as Rockstar, Delhi 6 and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. As the scent of rose petals dissolves with the delicious aroma of kebabs, the magic happens. 7. Lastly, we have Daulat ki Chaat!

If we have talked about Delhi Winters, how can we not tell you about Daulat ki Chaat? “Daulat ki chaat” is Old Dilli’s most amusing street food. Anyone who is expecting the punchy, spicy flavors suggested by the word ‘chaat’ will be severly disappointed. It is a light foam that disappears instantly in your mouth, leaving behind the subtle taste of sweetness, cream, saffron, sugar and nuts; tantalizing, almost not there.
