5. Jang Falls
It is one of the most stunning waterfalls in India located in the state of Arunachal pradesh. Jang falls is also known as Nuranang falls located in Tawang district. There is a hydroelectric plant near the base of the falls, which generates electricity for the surrounding area. It is about 6000 ft above sea level and is about 40 kms from Tawang town.
4. Nohkalikai Falls
Nohkalikai falls in Meghalaya is one of the highest waterfall in India. It is located about 7 kms away from Cherrapunji. Water plunges from a height of 1,100 ft uninterrupted from the highest point to the foot of the falls. There is a story behind the name of this waterfall Nohkalikai. A woman named Likai had to remarry after her husband, who was a porter by profession died. Ka Likai was left with her infant girl with no means of income so she had to become a porter herself. Her work required her to leave her daughter unattended for long intervals but when she would be at home she would spend most of her time taking care of her infant. Ka Likai, who married a second time, couldn’t pay attention to her second husband. The jealous husband killed the infant and cooked her meat after throwing away her head and bones. When Ka Likai returned home, she saw nobody in the house but a meal was ready. She wanted to go look for her daughter but she ate the meat as she was tired from work. Ka Likai usually had a betel leaf after her meals but she found a severed finger near the place where she usually cut betel nuts and betel leaves. Ka Likai realized what had happened in her absence and went mad with anger and started running as she swung a hatchet in her hand. She ran off the edge of the plateau and the waterfall where she jumped from was named Nohkalikai Falls after her. ‘Noh’ means to jump in Khasi.
3. Iruppu Falls
Iruppu fall is located in Coorg district of Karnataka. It originates from the Lakshmana Theertha river. It is one of the most popular waterfalls of Coorg. Iruppu falls is very popular tourist place because of it’s beauty and easy accessibility. The waters of Iruppu originate from the streams in the Brahamagiri forest range and crash down the Iruppu falls to join the Lakshmana Theertha river.

One of the most scenic waterfalls in India, Dudhsagar literally means ‘Sea of Milk’. Dudhsagar Waterfall is situated inside the Bhagwan Mahavir wildlife sanctuary in Sanguem district of Goa close to the border with Karnataka. Water plummets from a height of over 1,000 ft. The waterfall is called Vajra Sakala Falls by the locals but most people know it as Tambdi Surla falls based on the popular trekking tale to the waterfall which starts from Tambdi Surla Mahadev Temple. The waterfall is four-tiered waterfall and is about 1015 ft high and 100 ft wide.

It is one of the highest waterfall in India. Jog waterfall is located in the Southern state of Karnataka in Shimoga district. It is a major tourist destination in Karnataka. It is also known as Gerusoppe falls. Water plunges from a height of 830 feet and is located on Sharavati River. The water from Sharavati River pours down in four segments, namely Raja, Rover, Rocket and Rani Falls. The Linganmakki Dam is an important dam associated with the Jog falls. This dam feeds hydroelectric power stations, which have been operational since 1948.
