(9) Archaelogical Museum, Delhi
Located Near Red fort, This is one of those Museums that has kept objects From 1000BC and then come down from maurya to mughal dynasty. Objects such as paintings, potteries, Caligraphy, Antiques, textiles, weapons and costumes have been stored and excavated.There is a section which portays the scenes of first war of independence. The excavations at purana qila were carried out in 1955 and then again from 1969-73. Its opening hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm(open all days except mondays).
(8) Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai
Located in south bombay, Mumbai, It is one of those museums that was constructed by donation given by sir gowasji jehangir to the trustee of prince of wales museum. It is recognized nationally and internationally as a center of comtemporary indian art. On 21 january 1952 chief minister Bg Kher inaugrated the jehangir art gallery. dedicated to the late son of sir gowasji, jehangir. This gallery is normally divided into 3 sections and can be hired fully or section-wise. The gallery sponsors an annual exbition known as the monsoon art show to showcase the work of proven merit. Today the gallery faces a lot of shortage of space for its own facilities and expansion plans. (7) Marble Palace, Kolkata
Opened in 1854, this one of the best museums in kolkata is actually a mansion made of marbles by Raja Rajendra Mullick, located in the northern side of the city in late 1800’s. It is one of the mansions which have been well maintained since its establishment and looks very elegant. It had been made by a wealthy merchant who had his love for art and house contains western sculpture, victorian furniture, paintings by artists in India and Europe. The house is basically neoclassical in style. The premises also contains a garden with lawns, a rock garden, a lake and a zoo. Because Marble Palace remains a private residence, photography is prohibited. Entry is free but a permit should be obtained from west Bengal tourism bureau within 24 hours in advance at BBD bag, Kolkata. It is open from 10 am to 4 pm on all days except mondays and thursdays. Nearby places to visit are Tagore house, Birla temple, jorasanko Thakur bari and Birla Museum.
(6) Gandhi Bhavan, Bangalore
Located in Bangalore, Karnataka, One of the museums is Gandhi Bhavan was established in 1965 at kumara krapa road under the supervision of President Dr Rajendra Prasad. It had been made in the honor of the father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi and the main motive of this bhavan was to teach what gandhiji had wanted to teach the people. The museum comprises picture gallery which displays the entire life of Gandhiji from his early life to his death. It contains Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Library, Vallabh Niketan, Publications Sections and a unit for audio visual education. A special scheme to open Gandhi bhavan was taken up by Sri SC deshmukh who was the chairman of University grants commission. Its opening timings are from 10;30 am to 5 :00 pm and closed on sundays. Apart from that, there are various copies of letters written by him to various personalities of his time, Today it serves as the venue for public meetings organized on gandhian values.
(5) Government museum, Chennai
Housed across the british pantheon complex, this excellent is chennai’s best. It is a multi purpose state government owned museum, located in Egmore. Six Independent buildings in the museum campus has 46 galleries. The main building has a good archaelogical section all the south indian periods of buddist sculptures to vijaynagar work in 16 th century with special rooms devoted to hindu, buddist and jain sculptures. The museum also includes National Art Gallery, Comtemporary Art Gallery and Children’s museum on the same side. Its opening hours are 9:30 am to 5;00 pm, Saturdays to thursdays. It also has various sections related to Archaeology, Zoology, Botany,Geology, Anthropology and Numismatics. There are seperate entry fees for children and adults. Camera fee is Rs 200 and video fees is Rs500 respectively. Nearest way to reach is 20 km from meenambakkam Airport. permission has to be taken from Non indians.

One of the most historic museums which consist the vast collection of sculptures of the ancient era. A fine collection of photographs, weapons, thrones can be found in the royal palace museum. (3) Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum, Amritsar
Located in the Golden city of India, Amritsar, This museum contains Matchless collection of paintings, arms and armours, manuscript and coins of 18 th century. There are 3 art galleries too in the city one attached to golden temple, the other to jallianwala bagh and the third named after city’s famous artist, thakar singh. A lot of visitors and tourists visit the museum to see the valuable antiquities and art objects. The museum was formally established by shri jagjiwan ram, the then union minister of India on 27 th november, 1977.
(2) Sarnath Museum, Varanasi
This is one of the most oldest museums of Archaelogical Survey of India. The museum has 6832 sculptures and paintings. It holds the findings and excavations at the archaeological site of sarnath like buddha and bothitstva images and other ancient remains. It is located in the city of sarnath, near varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This museum contains 5 galleries and 2 verandahs to display the antiquees ranging from 3 rd century BC to 12 th century AD that have been found at sarnath.
(1) Amar Mahal, Jammu and Kashmir
The Amar palace is located in Jammu and Kashmir, India which is now been converted into a museum. This is one of the oldest museumsbuilt in 19 th century by Raja Amar singh. It has many Exhibits including a golden throne whighing 120 Kg. The palace was the last official residence of dogra dynasty and large collection of portraits of royal family are also on display on the museum. It is situated on the right bank of tawi river on a bend of the river.
